Cotton Import Volume in China Dropped Y-on-Y in August

    The news released by CNCIC on Sep, 14th reported that according to the Customs, China totally imported 207,000 tons cotton in August, 2011, which increased 31.80% (50,000 tons), compared to July; it decreased 13.8% Y-on-Y.
    It said that China imported 2,576,000 tons cotton accumulatively from Sep, 2010, which increased 2.93% (73,400 tons) Y-on-Y; the accumulative import volume from Jan to August, 2011 was 1,690,300 tons, which dropped 13.4% (261,600 tons) Y-on-Y.
    The Custom Bureau usually publishes the main agricultural and industrial import data of last mouth on monthly 20th, including cotton, but CNCIC always publishes informal import data before this.
