--Jan, 13 Commerce Department China, Comment on Shengze Silk and Synthetic Fiber Index
On Jan, 13, the data monitor of Shengze Silk and Synthetic Fiber Index of Commerce Department China showed that, the price of the synthetic products in Shengze Index dropped 0.02 the very day compared with Wednesday, which closed at 98.04; and the synthetic fabrics’ price index dropped 0.05 compared with Wednesday, closed at 97.05; the chemical fiber index closed at 100.96, raised 0.1 compared with Wednesday.

From the index of chemical fiber products, all the classified indexes had some kind of increase. E.g., FDY polyester filament closed at 96.94 increased 0.82; POY polyester filament closed at 100.57, increased 0.51; FDY cation closed at 96.86, increased 0.65; T/N composite yarn closed at 95.42, increased 0.48; sea-island composite yarn closed at 96.15, increased 0.85; The reason why all the raw material indexes had great increase was that the downstream weaving market made a great purchasing and the increased trading volume.
From the detailed material price information, the polyester price rose greatly in Shengze market, China. One of the local main direct spinning factories quoted an increase of 200-400 Yuan per ton of FDY; POY increased 200-300 Yuan per ton; several specification of DTY increased 100 Yuan per ton. Presently, FDY 50D/48F quoted at 18, 200 Yuan per ton, DTY 75D/72F quoted at 16, 200 Yuan per ton, POY 72D/72F quoted at 16, 200 Yuan per ton. Another flux spinning factory in Shengze quoted a 200-300 Yuan per ton increase of DTY, lustrous FDY increased 200 Yuan per ton; now the lustrous FDY 40D/24F quoted at 1, 8300 Yuan per ton. The manufacturers reported that the purchasing enthusiasm of the downstream weaving factories is huge. The polyester price kept increasing in Taicang market, China. One of the main manufacturers quoted a common increase of 200 Yuan per ton. Now the spot exchange FDY 50D/24F quoted at 17, 600 Yuan per ton, and the 3 months acceptance POY 150D/144F quoted at 14, 300 Yuan per ton. The polyester also increased greatly in Zhangjiagang, China. One of the main polyester manufacturers quoted a common increase of 200 Yuan per ton. Now the lustrous FDY 40D/ 24F quoted at 18, 500 Yuan per ton; semi-dull FDY 50D/48F quoted at 17, 800 Yuan per ton; and the manufacturer said their sales in the early market is good. The polyester also increased greatly in Xiao Shan market, China. One of the main polyester manufacturers quoted a common increase of 200 Yuan per ton. Now the FDY 66D/24F quoted at16, 600 Yuan per ton; DTY 75D/144F micro-web quoted at 19, 500 Yuan per ton. Another main POY manufacturer quoted a increase of 100- 200 Yuan per ton, who quoted the POY 150D/144F at 13, 850 Yuan per ton and they reported a good inquiry situation in the early trading. There was also a common increase of 150-200 Yuan per ton of one of the main polyester factories in Shaoxing, China. Now they quoted FDY 118D at 14, 200 Yuan per ton and POY 150D/144F at 14, 160 Yuan per ton. The polyester price also increased in Tong Xiang, China. One of the DTY manufacturers reported a 200 Yuan per ton common increase; the semi-dull POY 100D increased 300 Yuan per ton. Now the DTY 150D/48F quoted at 15, 200 Yuan per ton; POY 150D/48F quoted at 13, 700 Yuan per ton. The differentiated products price also went stably, like the cation FDY 50D/24F was around 18, 700 Yuan per ton; T/T composite yarn 50*50 was 16, 200Yuan per ton; and the sea-island composite yarn DTY 215D was still around 19, 000 Yuan per ton in downstream. The raw material factories’ producing and selling was both around 150%-200%.
Let’s take a look at the upstream material situation, the PTA spot market increased 10, 500- 10,550 Yuan per ton in East China, and the main-stream negotiated price was around 10, 400- 10,450 Yuan per ton. In the outskirt market, Taiwan goods quoted USD 1, 330- 1, 335 per ton. MEG in East China inner market still quoted around 8, 600 Yuan per ton. The sliced semi-dull polyester’s main-stream market price was around 12, 600 Yuan per ton (by cash). With the continuous increasing of the upstream raw material, I think the polyester will still climb up later.
