The General Situation of Silk Apparels Exportation in China, 2010

    According to the statistic of China Customs, the export volume of silk apparels decreased and the price increased in 2010.

    The silk apparels exported 78.12 million pieces, which dropped 10.98% year on year; the value is 1.112 billion USD, which dropped 3.72% year on year; the unit price is 14.24 USD/piece, which increased 8.15%. the export value of silk apparels accounted for 69.34% of silk made goods, for 34.14% of silk goods and for 0.86% of total apparels export value.

    First, the export volume decreased overall, the lowest drop rate is to Hong Kong, which is 6.47%; the biggest is to Britain, which is 16.27%. The top five silk apparels export markets are the USA, Hong Kong, Britain, Japan and Italy.

    USA: China exported 33.51 million pieces in 2010 and the value is 0.459 billion USD, which decreased 11.56% and 3.57% year on year; the unit price is 13.69 USD/piece, which increased 9.04% year on year, and lower than the average level of global export slightly. The market share of export volume and value are 42.9% and 41.25%. 

    Hong Kong: China exported 9.55 million pieces in 2010 which decreased 6.47% year on year and the value is 0.108 billion USD, and increased 4.2% year on year; the unit price is 11.28 USD/piece, which increased 11.41% year on year, the average unit price is the lowest in the main market. The market share of export volume and value are 12.23% and 9.68%.

    Britain: China exported 5.11 million pieces in 2010 and the value is 70.6 billion USD, which decreased 16.27%, and 18.91% year on year; the unit price is 13.81 USD/piece, which decreased 3.16% year on year, and it is the only market whose price has dropped in the main market. The market share of export volume and value are 6.55% and 6.35%.

    Japan: China exported 4.92 million pieces in 2010 and the value is 94.92 million USD, which decreased 14.07%, and 5.39% year on year; the unit price is 19.3 USD/piece, which increased 10.11% year on year, and the average unit price is the highest in the main market. The market share of export volume and value are 6.3% and 8.54%.

    Italy: China exported 4.38 million pieces in 2010 which decreased 13.07% year on year and the value is 79.92 million USD, and increased 3.12% year on year; the unit price is 18.25 USD/piece, which increased 18.63% year on year. The market share of export volume and value are 5.6% and 7.19%.

    Second, the export volume of main provinces and cities dropped overall, among which the lowest drop is Jiangsu province of 0.79%; the biggest drop is Zhejiang province of 16.2%. the top four provinces of silk apparels export are       Zhejiang, Guangdong, Jiangsu, and shanghai. The total export volume of the four provinces accounted for 93.78% of the general export volume.

    Zhejiang province: exported 34.08 million pieces, which dropped 16.2% year on year and the market share is 43.63%.

    Guangdong province: exported 18.69 million pieces, which dropped 13.28% year on year and the market share is 23.92%.

    Jiangsu province: exported 10.68 million pieces, which dropped 0.79% year on year and the market share is 13.67%.

    Shanghai: exported 9.81 million pieces, which dropped 6.35% year on year and the market share is 12.56%.
